If you havesix or more recurrent outbreaksof genital herpesa yearor if yoursymptoms are very severeand causing youdistress, you can take aciclovir every day on a long-term basis. This issuppressive treatmentand it aims to stop outbreaks happening at all.
How often do I take suppressive treatment? You take one aciclovir 400mg tablet twice a day.
Thetreatment is continued for six to 12 months. Then you have a break from medication to re-assess recurrence frequency. Suppressive treatment may be restarted if you have further severe outbreaks. Suppressive treatment can reduce the risk of passing HSV on to your partner but it cannot prevent it altogether and so you should always wear a female or male condom during any sexual activity. If you are experiencing recurrent outbreaks of genital herpes you should also consider being tested for HIV as it may be a sign of a weakened immune system due to HIV.Caution: It’s important to maintain adequate hydration while taking either of the treatments for genital herpes.
If you get any of the six outbreaks, taking aciclovir every day can prevent them from happening more often. However, suppressive treatment is not recommended for you to take for recurrent episodes of genital herpes you take alone as it may increase the risk of passing HSV on to your partner. You can continue using aciclovir for future outbreaks.
If you stop treatment you have asix or more outbreaks per yearand you have recurrent genital herpes you should stop treatment and re-diagnose. Aciclovir is not recommended for use in you to re-epist on if you have recurrent genital herpes.

Aciclovir 50mgeach tablet
The active ingredient in this medicine is aciclovir. This means it stops the herpes viruses from multiplying and spreading so it’s safe to use while you’re taking aciclovir. The following are the different active ingredients used in aciclovir1.
Antiviral agents play a vital role in the treatment of various viral infections. They are particularly useful in the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, cold sores, and genital herpes, and are used to treat shingles, genital herpes, and chicken pox (varicella zoster) in humans. The most common herpes viral agents includeHerpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV),(Herpes Simplex Virus;) and varicella-zoster-susceptible Herpes simplex virus (HSV-HSV).
These medications work by inhibiting an enzyme calledHerpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1)in the body. This enzyme is responsible for the replication of viral DNA in the infected cells. By reducing the amount of viral DNA, these medications help reduce the severity of the infection and prevent further spread.
In the early stage of HSV infection, HSV-1 is able to spread into the surrounding tissues and is more effective than other viral infections. Once in the body, HSV-1 is highly contagious and can cause visible symptoms. However, it can also cause acute kidney injury (AKI), which is very common in young children and can be associated with severe complications. This is why AKI is often referred to as a “life-threatening infection”.
In contrast, HSV-1 is also highly contagious, which means that the body can infect HSV-1 without showing symptoms. HSV-1 can be easily spread by sharing infected areas with others, such as a public-facing barrier.
In addition to the above-mentioned, HSV-1 is also highly contagious in some situations. This is because the virus cannot be easily spread through direct contact with infected areas. Therefore, the infection can be spread very easily from one person to another.
The most common symptoms of HSV-1 are fever, rash, swollen lymph nodes, and joint pain. These symptoms can also include the following:
Other common symptoms of HSV-1 include:
It can also be associated with:
While the above symptoms are usually mild to moderate and resolve spontaneously, it is important to note that they can be life-threatening when severe.
It is also important to remember that there are many other herpes viruses that can cause life-threatening complications, so it is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any antiviral medication. In addition, there are other drugs available that can help manage these symptoms.
The best way to reduce the risk of transmission is through safe and effective ways. It is also essential to follow medical guidelines and take the necessary precautions to protect your health. To help you with your treatment, be sure to discuss the use of antiviral medications with your healthcare provider.
Aciclovir/Fluconazole (AVDAC) is an antiviral medication that has been proven to be effective in treating various herpes viral infections. It is a synthetic nucleoside analogue that is highly effective in treating HSV-1, HSV-2, and herpes zoster viruses.
The most common uses of AVDAC are as a first-line treatment for herpes simplex virus infections. It can also be used to treat chicken pox, shingles, and genital herpes.
Aciclovir belongs to a group of medicines called antivirulence drugs, or antivirals. It is used to treat infections caused by certain viruses. It is also used to reduce outbreaks of genital herpes and cold sores in adults and children. This medicine neutralizes the viruses that cause these infections and reduces the symptoms. You should use this medicine to treat the first episodes of cold sores on your body. If you have the outbreaks, you may use it for a number of years. If you have outbreaks on your own body, you may not use it. You may use it for only a few months. If you stop using it, you may not have outbreaks. Take aciclovir for 1 year only if the symptoms are gone. Talk to your doctor or a pharmacist before taking aciclovir for genital herpes.
Aciclovir may be used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat outbreaks on the body. You must use aciclovir for 1 year only. Your doctor will do some lab tests at regular visits to check on the effectiveness of the treatment. Talk to them if you stop taking it.
It will take 6 weeks before your outbreaks will be completely healed. You may get sores on your blisters. You may get an outbreak on your face or inside your mouth. You can get more sores after you have had your first outbreaks. Sores will stay for 2 to 3 days after you have had your first outbreaks. But they will go away after treatment is over. Sores should stay for 2 to 3 days. If they go away, do not use the medicine.
If you are taking medicines to control your cold sores, it may be helpful to take aciclovir for 5 days after your first outbreaks. This is when the sores will not be affected by the treatment and will do nothing to stop it. You will need to take aciclovir every day for 2 to 3 months before you will be able to tell it how you are feeling. You will also need to take some medicine to help you control the cold sores. Your doctor will do some tests at regular visits to check on the effectiveness of the treatment.
It is not known if aciclovir is safe and effective in children under 2 years of age. Talk to your pharmacist or a pharmacist.

Zovirax Cold Sore Cream. Works at tingle & blister. Clinically proven to improve healing and treat the virus.
Zovirax Cold Sore Cream is indicated in adults and children for the treatment of a cold sore which is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus
Stages of the virus
After the itchy, tingly stage, the site of the cold sore gradually develops into a blister or a small group of blisters, surrounded by red and swollen skin.
After a day or so these burst to produce the typical open sore.
Like a sore anywhere on your body, these sores gradually dry up and form a crusty scab, which is usually a yellow-brown colour.
The sore gradually heals.
The scab falls off over a few days and should completely disappear after around 10 days, or faster with the use of Zovirax Cold Sore Cream.
The area may be a bit swollen for few days.
